| KENPO KUTS The following article is a tongue-in-cheek rant about so called "no holds barred", "reality" based fighting. I am explaining this for those individuals that do not understand dry humor or satire. In the early years of the development and promotion of MMA many of the key players, organizations, and media promoting these events used a lot of advertising and marketing "hype" regarding how there were no rules. They promoted the, "two men enter, one man leaves" concept of fighting. In fact nothing could be farther from the truth. The real reality is that there are a lot of rules in "no holds barred" fighting and that many holds and strikes are barred. Even the physical environment, such as a cage, and the wearing of fighting trunks only (no gi) creates an "unreal" fighting situation. Unless you get into a fight on the beach with a blond in a thong, most people that you would fight would be wearing clothing and that clothing can be used to control, throw, or choke out an opponent. MMA is a regulated sport with many rules that protect the fighters from serious harm and that is a good thing. The statistics regarding MMA injuries and deaths show that MMA is safer than either boxing or football. But the crowd needs to view MMA as a "death" match. Having said that please read the following article and enjoy it in the spirit in which it was written.
The Kenpo Dragons The dragon symbolizes mystery, power, spirituality, and wisdom.
